Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) Design, Build, Finance & Operate
We provided Programme Director services to a University as they worked towards Financial Close on a 2,000 bed PBSA DBFO. Associated works included Network Rail permissions for a new bridge and the demolition & decontamination of a previous brownfield pharma site for a £200m capital project, serviced by a 50+year concession
Grade II Listed high spec laboratory conversion
D2i are providing Lead Consultant and Project Director services to an international multi-disciplinary built environment consultancy. We are leading the delivery of a £90m new build and refurbishment into high spec labs and teaching spaces, of an existing Grade 2 Listed brutalist general teaching building for a Higher Education provider.
Decarbonisation projects
D2i are carrying out decarbonisation projects with 
multiple NHS Trusts, assisting them with improving the sustainability of their existing estate on the ‘Road to Zero’ See an example here – decarbonising Eastbourne District General Hospital
NHS Seacole at Headley Court
We were humbled to be selected by Surrey County Council to deliver the Covid19 recovery facility at NHS
Headley Court. Over the course of 35 days, we reopened the abandoned & derelict military facilities, transforming the buildings into compliant healthcare facilities for upto 500 patients, staff accommodation, catering facilities, storage and training rooms. The project has won multiple awards including Building Magazine, Health Service Journal and ACE.
University of Bath Institute of Advance Automotive Propulsion Systems – IAAPS
D2i provided Project Director services to the University of Bath on an Automotive R&D facility that is located on the Bristol and Bath Science Park. You can fly through the finished building here
University of Bath –School of Management
We supplied Project Director services to the University of Bath for their iconic new School of Management that has been constructed at the entrance to their Claverton Down Campus in Bath. You can see a timelapse here
Department for International Trade/ HCUK
We provided HealthcareUK, part of the Department for International Trade with consultancy services, particularly around procurement, PFI arrangements, construction supply chains and delivery both in the UK and globally.
Following over 2 decades of civil war and unrest, Liberia’s education infrastructure was almost non-existent. Darren lead a team for the Ministry of Education that created a standard school model that was able to be constructed and maintained by local communities. It delivered schools in both urban and remote rural areas that would be cut-off by seasonal rains. For an overview of the Liberia Schools project, please watch this YouTube link
Darren created a competitively tendered appointed team and was the Programme Manager working on behalf of the University. We negotiated a contract with a landowner and developer JV to deliver the £350m new Swansea Bay Campus on an old BP transit site to the east of Swansea.
